Helping you connect with God every day.

Story Sunday - October 25, 2026

For the first seven years of my marriage, my relationship with my husband felt more like a battle than a partnership. It was defined by fighting, lying, and a serious dependency on alcohol. In July of 2019, Jesus worked a miracle in my life and saved me from alcoholism. But, as the fog of my addiction cleared, the reality of broken relationships set in. Mainly, my marriage. The deep hurt and resentment, the fractured trust, and years of damage. I genuinely didn’t think we would stay together.

‍

Before deciding to call it quits, I made a choice to fight for my marriage. I worked with a spiritual mentor and counselor, completed assignments given to me, committed myself to intentional prayer, and invited Jesus directly into our relationship. I surrendered our future to Him.

‍

What I didn’t know at the time was that God was already moving behind the scenes. While I was working on our marriage in the quiet, my husband was fighting for us in his own way. He was doing intentional work with Jesus on himself, and he was inviting Christ into the middle of our relationship, too. After some time, it began to transform.

‍

Today, our marriage looks completely different than before. We went from constantly fighting against each other to finally becoming a team and working WITH each other. The old anger and resentment have been totally replaced by a renewed love, butterflies, and a crush on my husband, alongside a deep and profound appreciation for the man my husband has become.

‍

You only ever see your side of the story. You don’t always know what God is speaking into another person or how He is working in their lives. When both people decide to bring Jesus into the center of their lives and their relationship, it forms an unbreakable and beautiful bond.
