“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2, NIV).
What is it about nature that we can so clearly see in it the beauty of collaboration, symbiosis, or animals working together? Perhaps when we witness nature the way God intended, it reflects the word “fulfill,” or the Greek word meaning “to bring to perfection.”
This week we discussed what is means to be equipped and charged to impact the emotional world God has placed us in. We know what it feels like to have someone offer us a hand or help ease a physical burden, but what about lifting with spiritual hands to God the ailments we can’t see in others? How comfortable are you praying aloud over someone who complains of their marriage, laments over a lost opportunity, or is entrenched in bitterness, envy, or strife over their circumstances? When we step out in faith, with the power of the Holy Spirit, we can only bring or carry the burden as far as the cross. The rest we leave to Jesus, the only one who can “bring to perfection.”
With the guidance of Holy Spirit, ask the Lord how you can serve with spiritual hands. What is your next step of faith - committing to a specific prayer time for someone, praying aloud when a need arises, or asking to receive help over a burden you yourself aren’t meant to carry alone?
