Romans 10:9-11

If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, "Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame." (NIV)

Behind the Scenes

Standing at the edge, ready to take a leap into the unknown. Somehow, I know this is the right decision, yet I have no clue what lies ahead. I’ve been feeling this tug at my heart, but something has been holding me back. God has been inviting me in for as long as I can recall. Even though I’ve been living my life without regard for him for many years, for some reason, I feel that he is safe. There is something deep inside giving me enough faith to trust him. “Jesus, I want you to be Lord of my life. I believe that you bore the weight of my sins on the cross, sacrificing yourself for me. I believe that you were resurrected, defeating sin and death. I can’t do things on my own. I’m not quite sure what will happen next, but I’m choosing to trust you. I’m sorry that I have rejected you for so long. I want to surrender it all to you.”

This is a reflection of my heart during the time that I finally decided to accept Jesus’ invitation into relationship with him. In that moment when I gave my life to Jesus, my faith was small. It was a huge step for me to decide to trust in the Lord. My choice declared that whether what came next was challenging or easy, I would trust God in it. At that time, I couldn’t explain to you why, but somehow, I knew that he could be trusted. He has graciously proven that to me, building my faith each day since.

You might be wrestling with whether you can trust God. Maybe you are the one that gave your life to Jesus last night, or maybe you’re sharing the gospel with someone else. Wherever you are in that journey, the foundation is faith in Jesus Christ.

Make it Real

Taking that first step may not be easy, but it really is that simple. God wants you in his family. He is waiting with open arms. You don’t need to have all the answers, have it all together, or even know what’s next. You can be in the deepest, darkest place of your life. It doesn’t change the fact that he wants to meet you exactly where you’re at. If you’re ready to trust him, he is ready to lead you.

Today’s Scripture states that if you declare that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. You can trust that anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame. The fact of the matter is that he wants to draw you into relationship, to trust him, to take you from death to life, and to restore you…and it doesn’t even end there.

End in Prayer

If you’re standing at that metaphorical edge, we are praying for you to take that first step of faith into the unknown, trusting the Lord, because we know that when you encounter Jesus, he will change everything for you. Feel free to reach out to office@acfak.org if you want to know more and get connected with those who can help you take your next step. If you declare that Jesus is Lord and you believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you are saved! We would love to celebrate that decision with you, provide you with some resources to grow, and get you connected with a community who wants to encourage your faith.

And for the believer, be aware of that person who is searching, seeking, or wrestling with who is God. There is an opportunity to walk alongside them, be present, and rejoice as they encounter the Living God!
